Speaking at the opening of the Adana Commodity Exchange, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu expressed happiness for being in Adana, which is both the locomotive of Anatolia and its breadbasket.

Hisarcıklıoğlu, praying for the grace of Allah upon the martyred soldiers in Operation Olive Branch and the martyred Specialist Sergeant Halis Koca of Adana, “Praise Allah, we captured Afrin district center yesterday. May Allah grant our army victory. May He keep and protect our soldiers. May our unity and solidarity be everlasting. Yesterday was the 103rd anniversary of the Çanakkale (Dardanelles) Victory. We memorialize the Çanakkale martyrs in gratitude. Every breath we take today is owed to their last breath given. May Allah grace them with blessings.

Noting that Customs and Commerce Minister Bülent Tüfenkci stands with them on this important day for Adana, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Our ministry is with us not only on good days but also during our troubles. Under the leadership of the minister, a number of reform steps have been taken for years that have relieved the business community and improved the business and investment environment. Many reforms, including company establishment in one day, the use of agricultural products as collateral for access to financing, the licensed warehousing system and the Specialized Product Commodity Exchanges, as well as the facilitation of financing for the business world, have been made possible by the Ministers and our Ministry's valuable bureaucrats. We are really lucky to have such a minister.”

Pointing out Adana’s dynamism, mobility and blessings, the TOBB President said he shares the morale and motivation of its members in Turkey's 80 provinces.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Adana is a city of trade, industry, tourism and agriculture, with the trade volume of 86bn TRY, ranking 9th in Turkey.

Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “38% of Adana is arable agricultural area. While on average, 24% of agricultural land in Turkey is irrigated, the rate is 46% in Adana. Food, agriculture and livestock markets are organized in our country by commodity exchanges. The analysis of the products is done in the laboratories of our commodity exchanges. Prices of products are determined by interaction of buyers and sellers. In the electronic sales hall where we will be opening soon, the prices of the products will be determined in electronic environment. We provide service to our modern stockbrokers, with our accredited labs, our electronic sales halls, our licensed warehouses. Today, our commodity brokers have become an example to the world. We are transferring our experiences in Commodity Exchanges to 57 Islamic countries and Turkic Republics.”

Stating that recently, food in Turkey has taken three important steps that will further develop the agriculture and livestock markets, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Manufacturers bring their products to licensed warehouse. First, the product is analyzed in the laboratory, then it is placed into storage. They use their Electronic Product Promissiory Note (ELÜS), which can be used as a guarantee for financing. We will open Adana CE’s 50,000 ton cereal and corn licensed warehouse and authorized product analysis and classification laboratory soon. Hopefully once the second phase is completed, the licensed warehouse capacity will have reached 115,000 tons. I would like to thank the Minister for their leasing, logistical and analysis support for licensed warehousing.

Under the leadership of the minister, we are about to complete the establishment of the Product Specialized Commodity Exchanges, which is the 50 year dream of Turkish agriculture. We are also creating licensed warehouses as a foundation for the Product Specialized Exchanges. You will be able to buy and sell the product notes you buy from licensed warehouse on the Product Specialized Commodity Exchanges. Just like Borsa Istanbul. This will be a commodity exchange. With the Specialized Commodity Exchange, prices of agricultural and livestock products will now be determined in our country. Our Adana Commodity Exchange will be its partner.

Thirdly, we are renewing our registration software in our Commodity Exchanges. Now it becomes possible to register from your workplace, from your pocket, from the internet. The new system will also work with all institutions. You will not need to go door to door between many institutions.

Adana Commodity Exchange has built a great facility. It has become a place to contain all the activities of the commodity exchange. In addition to what I said, merchants also have a place in this facility. As an accredited commodity exchange, the exchange with its 5-star service quality has as 5-star facility to match.”
