01.11.2017 / Ankara

M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), released a statement regarding the 3rd Tourism Summit organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to be held on November 1-3, 2017.

Hisarcıklıoğlu's statement is as follows:

“Among Turkey’s top sectors for high foreign exchange inflows and the most value-added sectors is tourism. Turkey has the potential to be one of the world's top 5 tourism destinations thanks to its favorable climatic conditions, its central geographical position and its advantages of being an open air museum.

Although there has been a decline in the number of tourists coming to Turkey due to terrorist incidents and turmoil in the region, an upward trend has been observed again in 2017. The 3rd Tourism Summit is convening at the most opportune time. Here, all parts of the sector will determine the steps that Turkey needs to make in order to make a new breakthrough in tourism. The public and private sectors will work together to provide a potential for Turkey to have a presence in tourism. I hope that the summit proves beneficial for our country.”
