Aegean Region chambers and exchanges convened at TOBB

Aegean Region Consultation Meeting was held at TOBB Twin Towers. TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said that presidents of chambers and stock exchanges should inform their members about the activities they are engaged in and that the Turkish private sector should be able to benefit from the opportunities of the whole business community.​

Hisarcıklıoğlu, in regards what they should say when people ask what the chambers and exchanges accomplish, “Tell them what has been done, what you have done. All of your members should have knowledge of these and benefit from them.”

Detailed presentations on the demands from the government and the actualized goals of the business community in the last 6 months as well as the results of a detailed vertical slice study survey of the business community.

Referring to the fact that all the economies in the east and west are in general growth, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the growing economies will come to mean more trade and profits.

Noting that Europe is seeing the highest growth since the global crisis, the TOBB President pointed out that 50% of Turkey's exports are to this market. Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the effects of the government's economic measures are beginning to be show their effect and he mentioned that a growth rate of 5% is pleasing. Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the biggest share of this growth belongs to the private sector and he asked the chairmen of the chambers and stock exchanges to maintain these figures and trends.

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu noted that the growth means employment, “In February, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was present at the TOBB Trade and Industry Meeting. He urged that everyone there employ at least one other person. In the first 6 months you wrote a great success story. You hired 1,2 million people. This is a world record. There is no example of this in any other country.”
