“Every company in İzmir is a star”

05.05.2017 / İzmir

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said in a speech at the annual Award Ceremony organized by the İzmir Chamber of Commerce, that he is proudest of such ceremonies, "Business life is already difficult. You must wrestle the lion for your daily bread. You will survive and succeed. This is not everyone's business. That's why everybody should appreciate the value of the companies which receive the awards.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu, who wants the state authorities in particular to protect this community said, “These people are the pupils of İzmir and the exemplars of the İzmir business community.”

Noting that every company in İzmir is a star, the TOBB President said, “Each deserves to receive a medal. Because production provides employment. I am proud of you. Everyone should be proud of you. With entrepreneurs like you behind it, our country won’t be ever falter.”

Stating that they have but one request from the government, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We do not want money or accolades. If there are 18 economies in the world ahead of us, then give us the same conditions the business communities of those countries enjoy and we will take care of the rest. Let’s not get left behind; bring us to an equal footing with them. If you free us from our shackles, there’s nothing our entrepreneurs cannot overcome; no job they can’t accomplish.”

- Recovery process

İZTO Board of Directors Chairman Ekrem Demirtaş stated that the manufacturing industry is experiencing a recovery phase.

Demirtaş stated that 39,648 jobs were created in İzmir from the beginning of the year until April 23rd and that they believe they will reach the target of 100,000 additional jobs they promised to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Demirtaş also criticized the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to put Turkey under political watch, pointing to the extended state of emergency as result.

Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the İzmir Province/County Joint Chamber/Commodity Exchange meeting after the award ceremony.
