The Dutch government’s denial of landing permission to the Foreign Affairs Minister's plane is unacceptable

The President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, stated that the Dutch government’s denial of landing permission to the Foreign Affairs Minister is an unacceptable decision.

Hisarcıklıoğlu's statement is as follows:

“It is unacceptable that the Dutch Government has not given permission to land to the Foreign Affairs Minister's plane. I condemn this decision.

There can be no explanation for denying landing to the Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkey which is a European Council member, a NATO member and a candidate state for the EU.

Unfortunately, the elevation of officials opposed to the EU’s primary tenets to office is weakening the EU's ability to be transformative.

This hurts the EU's efforts to be a political force at the global level.

I invite the sensible people in the Netherlands to act. Embrace the values of the EU! The Netherlands is one of the founding nations of the EU.

At the same time, I call the Council of the EU to task.

This tension does not benefit anyone.”
