TOBB to establish Turkish-Arab Chambers with 22 countries

TOBB is establishing a Turkish-Arab Chamber by signing an agreement with the Union of Arab Chambers. The chamber will bring the Turkish business community into contact with 22 countries totaling an economy of 2.7 trillion USD. The agreement will be signed in Istanbul on November 24th, 2016.​

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the Turkish-Arab Chamber to be established will contribute to the development of trade and investment relations between Turkey and Arab countries through joint activities and endeavors.

In the management of the Turkish-Arab Chamber, there will be 22 member countries’ Chamber Associations representing the Arab Chamber of Union. Likewise, TOBB will also appoint a 22-member Board of Directors.

The Union of Arab Chambes, established in 1951, is an organization known for its active work. It is headquartered in Beirut. It’s members are rich Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Oman as well as the Chamber Unions of Central and North African countries such as Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Somalia and Sudan.

The geographical spread of the Union of Arab Chambers, the umbrella organization of private sector of Arab countries, represents a population of 378 million and an economic size of approximately 2.7 trillion USD.
