Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The UK is one of the world’s largest economies as well as one of Turkey’s most important trading partners. In this regard, it is one of our largest export destinations for appliances and other industry goods. To this end our visit with Mr. Richard Moore is quite important. We are proud to be showcasing the potential of Kayseri, a city of industry at the heart of Anatolia.”

Ambassador Moore expressed his pleasure in visiting Kayseri, “I think that Kayseri is the heart of Turkey. I first came to Turkey in the 90s. Kayseri was a very important city then. Looking at Kayseri in 2016, we see that it has become a developed city of industry. This city plays an important role Turkey’s economy; there are many successful exporters in Kayseri. This is why it’s so important for me to visit here.”

Referring to the coup attempt of July 15th, Ambassador Moore said that having expressed condemnation for the heinous attack, “I spoke with Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu during the night when the outcome of the attempt was not yet clear. Our Foreign Affairs Minister also spoke with Mr. Mevlüt, condemning the coup attempt. We condemned the unfortunate developments of the coup attempt throughout the day. If this coup had succeeded, it would have been a disaster for Turkey. That is why our stance is very clear on this matter.”

Kayseri Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Mahmut Hiçyılmaz said, “We have met on the occasion of Richard Moore’s visit to Kayseri.” He stated that the meeting aims to discuss relations between the UK and Turkey as well as the UK and Kayseri, what levels these relations should be at and how the process will be handled going forwards especially in regards to Brexit and developments between Turkey and the UK.
