“The power of women is an indicator of civilization”

08.03.2016 / Ankara

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, in his statement regarding the March 8th World Women’s Day, stated that societies which attempt to push women back in society cannot be considered civilized.

Hisarcıklıoğlu, “The power of women is an indication of civilization. The mentality which refuses to share life equally with women is doomed to be powerless, insecure and regressive. Our women should have a larger part in business life. There should be more women entrepreneurs. Let us never wrong or disrespect the beautiful side of humanity which gives us life; which nurtures us; which is our partners in life. Women’s power will always overcome the pathetic thoughts which seek to compensate for their shortcomings through violence.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message: “Our mothers, wives, daughters and friends; women who beautify the earth and make it worth living, I heartily celebrate the March 8th World Women’s Day.

The center support of our families, women are achieving great success in the arts, sports as well as many other fields including business. I know that the potential and power for much more is there.

We want the number of women entrepreneurs to increase rapidly to match the number of men in entrepreneurship. This is our ideal. It is with this in mind that the Women Entrepreneurs Council which we established years ago under TOBB has gone so far. They have provided a role model to young women.

We want a world where violence against women comes to an end, and women take a more active role in the economic and social life.

On behalf of the Turkish business world, I congratulate all women on this meaningful day and extend our love and respect.”
