Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the construction sector effects more than 200 sub-sectors and said, “A construction requires more than 150 different professions. A building construction requires roughly 25,000 different parts. It is definitely an essential sector for Turkey. Our construction sector is achieving great success, not only domestically, but internationally as well. We receive payment for services rendered internationally annually totaling a sum of 23 billion USD. Thanks to the construction sector, there is 23 billion USD less deficit.”

Drawing attention to the fact that the construction sector is still shrinking, Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that it has shrunk by 3.5% in the first quarter of 2015, with decrease in the production of construction materials by 7%.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the shrinking of the construction sector is an indicator for the future of Turkey’s economy, stating that there is a slow-down with difficulty in payments.

Reporting that there is a 49% increase in bounced cheques, Hisarcıklıoğlu urged the use of QR coded cheques introduced by TOBB which empowers the accepter to review the payment record of the issuer of the QR coded cheque in the last 3 months, enabling them to better gauge risk.

Hisarcıklıoğlu urged everyone to utilize UMEM Ability’10 to employ new individuals, alleviating the costs of employment for the employer by 18%.

Stating that elections have brought structural reforms to a halt, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that Turkey has no way of competing in the international arena with only 2.9% annual growth.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stressed the need to implement structural reforms and the formation of a new government as soon as possible.
