"My hope has increased many times over"

18.05.2015 / Diyarbakır

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, along with Minister for Science, Industry and Technology Fikri Işık and Minister for Development Cevdet Yılmaz, visited the Diyarbakır Organized Industry Zone and attended the opening of the Mina Galvanized Works Factory.

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that his hopes for Turkey's and Diyarbakır's future have been increased many times over by the meeting they held with the industrialists at the OIZ and said, "I've never seen such good facilities before. My hope has increased many times over. We were just visiting the MES Oil Factory. It is the only Diyarbakır company to place among the 1,000 largest companies in Turkey. We have the opportunity to be the production center for all of the Middle East from here. This is fitting for Diyarbakır. Diyarbakır is already the production of the Middle East. Now, it will rise from its ashes to once again claim its place."

Minister for Development Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the most urgent necessity for Diyarbakır is employment and that these facilities would roughly double their capacity thanks to investment.

Minister for Science, Industry and Technology Fikri Işık drew attention to the fact that the country's greatest strength is its entrepreneurs and stated that they will do everything necessary to make it so that the region will leave its turbulent image behind to become a byword for production, employment and increased prosperity.

Mina Galvanized Works Board of Directors Recep Özekinci expressed his joy in taking part in this investment into Diyarbakır, reporting that total capacity has increased from 25,000 tons in 2013 to 55,000 tons today. He stated that having employed 300 youth last year, the projections for this year point to an employment of 500.

Speaking in regards to their plans to export to 25 countries Özekinci stated that this would result in a significant increase in Diyarbakır's annual export volume.
