Customs and Tourism Enterprises (GTİ) Co. Inc. held its 2014 Annual General Assembly with the attendance of M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu in Ankara.
TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu thanked everyone who contributed to the efforts of the GTİ. Stating that they conducted the opening of the Edirne Kapıkule TIR Park, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Unfortunately, Edirne came up on the news with articles on the length of the TIR lines. We wanted to build the park 6 years ago but were prevented from doing so by bureaucratic obstacles. After arduous efforts, we have gained permission and have laid the foundation. It should be operational in 3 months, alleviating the ugly tableaux previously encountered.”

Speaking in regards to the Selimiye Foundation established for the renovation and upkeep of the Selimiye Mosque, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Selimiye Mosque is a historical inheritance. The foundation will assist greatly in caring for it.”

Stating that the custom gate modernization has been pointed out as an exemplary project by the United Nations, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The UN tells the nations of the world that if they want to modernize their customs gates, they should do it like Turkey does it.”

GTİ Board Chairman Arif Parmaksız reported that they are operating Habur, Cilvegözü, Kapıkule, Hamzabeyli, Sarp and Nusaybin gates while construction is still underway in Esendere, Çıldır-Aktaş, Dilucu and Halkalı.
