Turkish music has lost one of its century old oaks

In his message regarding the passing of the musician Müzeyyen Senar, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Senar has taken her place among the unforgettables with her artist personality and contributions to Turkish music, he went on to present his condolences on behalf of the Turkish business community.”​

Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Turkish music has lost a great name, one of its century old oaks.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his press release:

“We have learned to our great sorrow of the passing of Müzeyyen Senar at the hospital in which she was undergoing treatment.

Having sung to Atatürk in person, as well as witnessing a key period in history, the great artiste Müzeyyen Senar was greatly loved by all.

Her 97 year long life was filled with contributions to Turkish music, struggle and success. She leaves behind a name which will be remembered with respect and love by our nation.

On behalf of the Turkish business community, I pray for the grace of Allah upon the fallen and extend our condolences to her family, loved ones, the music world and our nation.”
