Hisarcıklıoğlu urges railway connection for Gemlik port

Beginning his Bursa visit with visits to the Gemlik Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GTSO) and Gemlik Commodity Exchange, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Gemlik with its 5 ports, four of them large, is one of Turkey’s most important port centers. Of course, a railway connection is a must-have for such a great gathering of ports. It is unlikely that a port can function to its fullest without a railway connection.” Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the railway project has been added to his program and said, “Gemlik’s shared goal should be to complete this posthaste.”​

Hisarcıklıoğlu first visited the Gemlik Chamber of Commerce and Industry TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the chamber is 5-starred, stating that they provide the same quality of service any chamber found in Berlin, London, Paris, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “At the moment, Gemlik’s quality and approach to service is on par with any chamber found in Berlin, London, Paris.”

 

- Prosperity of Gemlik’s economy

 

Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that Gemlik’s economy has gained prosperity in the last five years due to population increase.

 

Stating that every county in Turkey will not be able to achieve this, Hisarcıklıoğlu said:

 

“You are lucky. Gemlik has everything; industry, commerce, agriculture and tourism. Allah truly loves you. Primary actors of the industry are already here in this county. Gemlik is also the place where canning was done for the first time in Turkey. Olive also holds an important place for Gemlik in becoming a global brand. Gemlik with its 5 ports, four of them large, is one of Turkey’s most important port centers. Of course, a railway connection is a must-have for such a great gathering of ports. It is unlikely that a port can function to its fullest without a railway connection. The railway project has been added the current program. Gemlik’s shared goal should be to complete this posthaste as this will bring prosperity and plenty.”

 

Chamber President Kemal Akıt expressed his pleasure in the visit, thanking Hisarcıklıoğlu.

 

Hisarcıklıoğlu presented Akıt with a copy of From Yunus’ Rose Garden at the end of the meeting attended by Gemlik District Official Cahit Işık, Municipality Director Refik Yılmaz, Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) President İbrahim Burkay, İstanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) President İbrahim Çağlar and TOBB Board Members.

 

Hisarcıklıoğlu visited the Gemlik Commodity Exchange afterwards, meeting with Board President Özden Çakır and Board Members.
