29.08.2014 / Ankara

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, in his message regarding the August 30th Victory Day, stated that our nation, unified on the path to independence, have written such a sage on August 30th, 1922, that it will never be forgotten. Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “August 30th Victory Day is the embodiment of our unity and solidarity. It is our proclamation to the world that we will forever live free.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:

“It is with great pride that we remember once more the Battle of Dumlupınar (“Field Battle of the Commander-in-Chief") beginning on the 26th of August of the year 1922 and ending in victory on the 30th of August under the overall command of Mustafa Kemal. Our noble nation has never in its history relinquished its flag, homeland or independence.

An advocate for peace throughout the world, our great nation has shown time and time again, to friend and foe alike just how fierce a fight it can bring to the fore if our independence and homeland are threatened. The Great Smyrna Offensive is typical of this determination.

As the Turkish business community, we remember those who gave their lives for homeland, nation, independence and the flag; those who laid the foundations of all we have today, the Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, all of our martyrs and veterans and present them with our deepest respect and gratitude.

I wish all our nation a joyous August 30th Victory Day.”
