Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a man of love and heart, a great artist. We know that there is, as he put it, a path between hearts and the flowers on the path which he opened will never wilt. May the great master’s final resting place be in heaven. We will never forget him.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:

“We have learned to our great sorrow of the passing of the distinguished folk poet and artist Neşet Ertaş who had been hospitalized 15 days ago due to health issues. One of the Kırşehir wandering dervishes, the master artist had been nurtured by the love of Anatolia, translating the joys, sorrows, pains, loves and all manner of feelings of the people of Anatolia.

Releasing his first LP in the 1950’s, Ertaş has left great marks on our hearts in the 50 years that have gone by. Longing and nostalgia were voiced through his folk songs, paths were opened from heart to heart.

The lyrics of Neşet Ertaş, whose name is written in gold in our music history, will live on forever in our hearts.

Our hope is that generations who take him as their role model will become great folk singers fed by the characteristic values of these lands.

On behalf of the Turkish business world, I pray for the grace of Allah upon Neşet Ertaş and present my condolences to his family, loved ones and everyone admired his work. May heaven be his resting place.”
