The mobile breast, cervical and colon cancer screening vehicle acquired by TOBB and Işınsu Kestelli has been donated to the Ministry of Health.
The ceremony for the protocol regarding the vehicle, donated as part of the “Mom Beat Cancer” project, was held in front of the Hall #1 at the İzmir Fair.
Attending the protocol ceremony of the Mom Beat Cancer project were TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergün, Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Mehdi Eker, Deputy Health Minister Agah Kafkas, TOBB Board Treasurer İlhan Parseker, TOBB Board Member Ender Yorgancılar, TOBB ETU Hospital Board President Şadan Eren, İzmir Municipality Director Aziz Kocaoğlu, İzmir Assembly Representatives, chamber-exchange presidents and the residents of İzmir.
Kestelli stated that she had fallen victim to breast cancer last year and that, with great conviction, she had finally beat the disease and that this vehicle would help those fighting cancer like she did.
Emphasizing the importance of early recognition of the disease, Kestelli said, “If we can raise awareness of the public, our success rate in battling this disease will increase accordingly.”
Signing the protocol on behalf of the TOBB University of Economics and Technology Hospital, TOBB ETU Hospital Board President M. Şadan Eren said, “As the Turkish business world, we are aware that the key to development is healthy and educated generations. With this knowledge we have acquired a vehicle equipped with mammography equipment which will travel Turkey and screen for cancer.”
Deputy Health Minister Agah Kafkas thanked Işınsu Kestelli. After the speeches, TOBB ETU Hospital Board President M. Şadan Eren, Agah Kafkas and Işınsu Kestelli signed the protocol for the donation of the vehicle.
