Hosted by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the President of the German Union of Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) Hans Heinrich Driftmann and his delegation visited the Minister of Economy, Zafer Çağlayan.

- First choice Turkey

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that among the 120 countries DIHK President Driftmann needs to visit, Turkey was the first choice and congratulated him for it.

Introducing the visitors to Minister Çağlayan, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the delegation is disposed to invest in Turkey.

- “We wanted to see who we were working with”

DIHK President Driftmann said, “Our neighbors are having trouble. We wanted to show a sign. We wanted to see who were working with. There are over 5,000 German investors in Turkey; Turkish investors in Germany are providing employment to over 400,000 people. This is very important. We reached a record level for trade relations last year; we would like to continue this success.”

- Minister Çağlayan

Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan stated that as of the end of 2011, the trade between Turkey and Germany has reached 37 billion Dollars and said, “There is an imbalance in the trade between us. If we were to liken trade relations between Germany and Turkey to a car, it would look like a car moving on just 2 wheels.”

Çağlayan told the delegation that picking Turkey as their first destination was a shrewd move.

Stating that they can profit in every enterprise they undertake in Turkey, Çağlayan said that Turkey has undergone a very important test in 2008 with the global economic crises and has come out vindicated. The reason for this was stability and the ones responsible for that are the Turkish private sector.

Çağlayan said in his speech, “The new Incentives System brings many opportunities. We invite you to take advantage of these opportunities.”
