Speaking at IAC meeting, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that it should not be possible to threaten the flow of investment into Turkey by bogging it down in questions, doubts and reservations. “This is not something we find acceptable. We will, of course, cry foul play in this case. These grading institutions never visit Turkey and judge it on hearsay.”

PM Erdoğan, assessing Turkey’s economy in his speech, stated that it will continue to move into the future while maintaining its environment of stability and trust. Erdoğan stated that, unlike some European countries with elections approaching, he never allows populism.

- “We will keep to the course”

Emphasizing that Turkey is confidently moving towards its 2023 goals, Prime Minister Erdoğan said, “These grading institutions never visit Turkey and judge it on hearsay. Of course we will adjust our views accordingly regarding these institutions. The 2023 goals have surpassed being the goals of just our party or the government; they have become national goals.

We will disregard unjust and baseless assessments and smear campaign and keep on course to be one of the 10 largest economies in the world by 2023 with 2 trillion Dollars national income.”

- IMF President Lagarde

International Monetary Fund (IMF) President Christine Lagarde said, “Turkey’s economy has been progressing in recent years with its positive macro economic performance and structural reforms, achieving extraordinary success. Turkey is admirable, not just because of their success and performance, but also for the projects and sustainability efforts they’ve put forth.”

- Economy Minister Çağlayan

In his speech, Minister of Economy Zafer Çağlayan stated that Turkey was faced with the rapid increase of current deficit at the end of 2011 and went on, “However, we are working to address these in the short and long term.
