“Labor Life in the Turkish Century: The Future of Labor, Trade Union Organization and Employment,” the 13th Labor Council meeting was attended by TOBB Board Member Mehmet Büyüksimitci representing the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB).

In his speech, Mehmet Büyüksimitci shared TOBB's views and suggestions on working life. Mehmet Büyüksimitci brought flexible working models to the agenda of the Labor Council and said, “With the reflection of the digital transformation, which increases its impact more and more every day, on the employment markets, remote, partial, hybrid working types have started to replace full-time work. Young people are looking for flexibility with new ways of working. At this point, we need to harmonize the flexible working styles in our legislation with ILO standards.”

Büyüksimitci reminded the recent news that the government is working on a single labor law that combines all labor laws and said, “We think that a single law is not appropriate in line with the opinions of our relevant sectors. We see benefit in public and private sector dialog in order not to damage labor peace.” Büyüksimitci also stated that as the business world, they have difficulty in finding employees to work.
