Plastic, Rubber and Composite Industry Council President Yavuz Eroğlu re-elected

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Plastics, Rubber and Composites Industry Presidential Council Elected meeting was held in İstanbul under the chairmanship of Şekib Avdagiç, Vice Chairman of the TOBB Board of Directors responsible for the Council.​

In his opening speech, Avdagiç emphasized that the purpose of the TOBB Sector Councils is to find solutions to the problems encountered on a sectoral basis, to ensure the follow-up of these solution proposals for their implementation, and to contribute to the development of the sectors in the final stage. Pointing out that the issues that will shed light on the development of the sector are determined by the TOBB Sector Councils, Avdagiç referred to the activities of the Türkiye Plastics, Rubber and Composites Industry Council in this regard. Reminding that many important studies have been carried out on behalf of the Council so far, Avdagiç thanked Yavuz Eroğlu, President of the TOBB Plastics, Rubber and Composites Industry Council, for his effective and result-oriented work.

Afterwards, elections were held and Yavuz Eroğlu, President of the Turkish Plastics Industrialists Research, Development and Education Foundation (PAGEV), was unanimously re-elected as the President of the TOBB Türkiye Plastics, Rubber and Composites Industry Council, and Fahri Özer, General Manager of Süper Film Ambalaj San. ve Tic. A.Ş. General Manager Fahri Özer was re-elected.

- Seeking a solution to the EFSA problem

Following the elections held at the TOBB Plastics, Rubber and Composites Industry Council, other agenda items regarding sectoral problems were discussed. TOBB Türkiye Plastics, Rubber and Composites Industry Council, which took office in the new term after the election, thus started its new shift to solve sectoral problems, especially the EFSA process, at its first meeting. The first item was “EFSA compliance of raw materials obtained by mechanical recycling in the production of plastic packaging in contact with food.” While company representatives representing the sector were present at the meeting to discuss proposals for solving the problem experienced by companies in Türkiye regarding the EFSA process, officials from the relevant ministries from the public administration side also took part in the meeting. Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Food Codex Department, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization General Directorate of EIA, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization General Directorate of Environmental Management, Ministry of Trade General Directorate of Export, Ministry of Trade General Directorate of Product Safety Inspection, Turkish Food and Beverage Industry Federation, Environment Agency Deposit Management System Directorate and representatives of invested companies attended the meeting to share their views.

In addition to the EFSA issue, another important agenda item was the work that can be done to reduce costs for the development of logistics capabilities and capabilities in Turkish industry and exports.
