Disaster-stricken women to be trained in Gaziantep

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), Turkcell and the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council continue to organize training programs with the Gönül Bağı Projects launched to heal the wounds after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes.​

In this context, the Women Who Write the Future Software Testing Expert Program and the Sales and Marketing Development Program will be launched in Gaziantep. Within the scope of the program, disaster victims will be trained in areas such as sales, software and e-commerce.

With the Women Writing the Future Project, equal opportunities in all areas of technology will be aimed and women in the region will be supported with training.

The Women Who Write the Future Software Testing Expertise and Sales and Marketing Development Program will increase the competencies of citizens affected by the earthquake and still living in the disaster area in the fields of sales, communication, software, cyber security, e-commerce and office productivity applications.

At the end of the program, which aims to enable disaster victims to establish a business in the region where they live or to gain an advantage in finding a job, successful participants will be entitled to receive Turkcell Academy certificate and will be employed in the ecosystem.

The details of the project were shared at the meeting hosted by Gaziantep Chamber of Industry. The meeting was attended by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, Gaziantep Chamber of Industry Assembly President Adil Sani Konukoğlu, Gaziantep Chamber of Industry Chairman Adnan Ünverdi, Gaziantep Chamber of Industry Chairman Adnan Ünverdi, TOBB Gaziantep Women Entrepreneurs Council President Ayşen Ahi, Gaziantep Chamber of Industry Council Member Mustafa Özgüler and Turkcell Human Resources Deputy General Manager Hüseyin Çakmak.

In his speech, Adnan Ünverdi, Chairman of the Council of Directors of Gaziantep Chamber of Industry, reminded that the Women Who Write the Future Project was organized for the first time in 2017 in 18 provinces in cooperation with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council and Turkcell.

Ünverdi continued as follows: “Our project, which aims to train women in software, support them in developing mobile applications and increase their employment capacity and entrepreneurship in the field of technology, has attracted great interest across the country. Today, as a continuation of the same cooperation, we came together at the launch of the Women Who Write the Future Software Testing Expertise and Sales and Marketing Training Program, which will be held in the earthquake region. 60 women from earthquake victims will receive training on software testing expertise and career management for two months. With the Women Who Write the Future project, many projects have been produced so far to ensure that women are more present in the field of technology and that business ideas are harmonized with technology and commercialized. I wish that our project will be instrumental for good in the region. I wish the project participants success in advance”.

TOBB Gaziantep Women Entrepreneurs Council President Ayşen Ahi said in her speech: “The work carried out so far in this project in cooperation with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, Turkcell and TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council is admirable. These projects enable more women to enter business life. As TOBB Gaziantep Women Entrepreneurs Council, we are also active in order for women to become entrepreneurs, to take more place in business life and to be represented more.”

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin stated that the biggest demand in the region is employment and pointed out the importance of Turkcell's work.

Hüseyin Çakmak, Turkcell's Executive Vice President in charge of Human Resources, said the following about the training programs: “As Türkiye's Turkcell, we continue at full speed with our employment mobilization that we started for our disaster-stricken citizens in the provinces affected by the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes and their first-degree relatives studying outside the region”.

According to the State of Emergency Law, young people and women entrepreneurs who themselves or their first-degree relatives (mother, father, sibling) are 'disaster victims' in the provinces affected by the earthquake (Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, Şanlıurfa and Elazığ) can participate in the training program.
