Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

The election meeting of the Council was held at TOBB Twin Towers under the chairmanship of TOBB Vice President Ender Yorgancılar and Board Members Zeki Kıvanç and İbrahim Burkay, with the participation of TOBB Deputy Secretary General Cengiz Delibaş and with the intense interest of sector representatives.

In his opening speech, TOBB Board Member İbrahim Burkay emphasized that the councils are the platform that brings together public, private sector and sectoral non-governmental organizations on a legal basis. Burkay also conveyed his thanks to TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu for the vision he put forward during the formation of the Council in 2021.

TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç started his opening speech by conveying the greetings of TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu. Kıvanç shared with the participants that they are aware of the problems of all sub-groups in the sector and that as TOBB, all issues related to the waste sector are sensitively followed and addressed. Mr. Kıvanç also conveyed his thanks to all Members who contributed to the work of the previous term.

TOBB Vice President Ender Yorgancılar touched upon the European Green Deal processes in his opening speech. Yorgancılar underlined that the exports to the European Union of companies that cannot adapt to the legislation and change their production processes will be disrupted. Referring to the “Climate Portal” launched by TOBB, Vice President Yorgancılar stated that many information and announcements on climate change, green consensus and other environmental issues can be accessed through the Portal.

As a result of the election, Ali Kantur, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ITC Invest Trading & Consulting AG, was unanimously elected as Council President.

At the meeting Consultations were held on the issues currently followed by the Council and the topics proposed to be included in the agenda in the new term.
