Murzioğlu called on the Foundry Industry Council: “Give a hand, let's build a house”

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Foundry Industry Council meeting was held by video conference with the participation of TOBB Vice President Salih Zeki Murzioğlu and high-level representatives of the private sector and non-governmental organizations under the chairmanship of Council President Uğur Kocaoğlu.​

The Council convened with the agenda of “Developments Related to the Issues on the Agenda of the Casting Sector” and “Current Sector Data and Predictions”.

Salih Zeki Murzioğlu shared the effects of the disaster on the basis of country, region and sector with the Council Members at this first Council meeting held after the 6 February 2023 earthquake. He explained the commercial development projects carried out under the leadership of TOBB in order to revive and restore the region with in-kind and cash earthquake aid realized together with the Chambers / Commodity Exchanges.

He shared the two most basic projects and details that he wanted the support of the Foundry Industry Council with the Council Members. He stated that with the “My Supplier is From the Earthquake Zone Program”, raw material and intermediate goods needs can be procured from the earthquake region and the enterprises operating in that region and the economy of the region can be supported, and detailed information can be accessed at https://tobbdeprem.globalpiyasa.com/.

Murzioğlu gave the good news that the most important factor in the normalization of the region is housing, and that a path has been set out to solve this problem with the “Business World Housing Mobilization” initiated by TOBB.

On April 1st, 2023, Union President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu announced that “Lend a Hand, Let's Build a House” housing campaign “This is the day of unity and solidarity, come and support this project, a brick, a street or a house. As long as you do not withhold your support,” he said, requesting support for the project.

Council President Uğur Kocaoğlu stated that the projects will be supported as the Council and that the NGOs of the sector will be consulted on this issue and that the necessary action will be taken.

In his speech, which analyzed the burdens on the sector to compete with the world, President Kocaoğlu mentioned that energy costs play a major role in this competition and the importance of large price fluctuations on the side of inflation, raw materials, energy and logistics. Kocaoğlu stated that the EYT process was added to the current shortage of quality personnel, and on the other hand, he touched on the process that needs to be done to compete with the world.

Kocaoğlu also stated that the adoption and advancement of sustainability and circular economy practices in the sector within the scope of the “Carbon Regulation Mechanism at the Border” will make it easier for companies to adapt to changing conditions.

Stating that the European Union project was implemented with the partner of TÜDÖKSAD and İstanbul Technical University on Circular Human Resources Management in the Metal Casting Sector, he informed the Council about the scope of the “CHROMAFOR - Circular Human Resources Management in the Metal Casting Sector” project and how it can be utilized. The meeting was ended after the detailed presentation of the agenda by the Advisor of the Council Koray Hatipoğlu and the evaluations of the agenda by the Council Members.
