The First Turkey – Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Business Forum was held at the İstanbul Four Seasons Hotel on 6th and 7th of February by the Federation of Gulf Cooperation Council Chambers (FGCCC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.​

 

Attending the Forum were Prime Minister Deputy Ali Babacan, Minister of Economy Zafer Çağlayan, Customs and Commerce Minister Hayati Yazıcı, Treasury Minister Mehmet Şimşek as well as many ministers, high level executives and representatives of the business world in Turkey and Gulf countries.

During the opening session of the Forum on the 6th of February, Minister of Economy Zafer Çağlayan, Customs and Commerce Minister Hayati Yazıcı, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, FGCCC and ICCI President Sheikh Saleh Kamel and GCC Deputy Secretary General Abdullah bin Juma Al-Shibli made speeches.

After the signing of the Turkish-Arab Businesswomen’s Joint Council’s establishment agreement, during the “Women Entrepreneurship: Rising Economic Power” panel, the policies needed to be enacted by governments to support Turkish and Arab businesswomen were discussed.

On the same day, the gala dinner was held with the attendance of the Deputy Prime Minister, Ali Babacan.

The Improvement of the Investment Environment and Facilitation of Trade Plenary Session was held on the 7th of February.

As part of the Forum, the matters of investment potential and the development intra-regional trade between Turkey and GCC countries were discussed. In addition various simultaneous sessions on the subjects of women entrepreneurship, transportation, banking, energy, agriculture and food, infrastructure/construction and the development of SMEs were held.
