Tourism Sector represented at UNWTO General Assembly

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly was held in Madrid with the participation of its Affiliated and Full Members.​

Within the scope of UNWTO Affiliated Membership represented by the Turkey Tourism Council, which operates under the Sector Councils, the Head of the Entrepreneurship Department of TOBB Sector Councils, Saygın Baban and Expert İrem Ahi Seyhan attended the General Assembly meetings.

Saygın Baban held bilateral meetings with Ion Vilcu, director of the UNSC's Affiliated Members Department, and Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General, and briefed him on the planned “Post-Covid-19 International Tourism Forum” between TOBB and UNWTO. The Forum, planned by TOBB, is expected to invite 500 UNWTO members from different parts of the world to Turkey and to be attended by national and international partners. The Forum is expected to focus on issues such as inter-sectoral cooperation in tourism, countries' Covid-19 experiences, and tourism transformation.

In the contacts with the affiliated members, information was given about TOBB activities and information was given about the measures and programs made in the field of tourism in Turkey.

Within the scope of the General Assembly contacts, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Özgül Özkan Yavuz requested support on the projects of the relevant sector councils and the areas of cooperation with Özkan Yavuz were consulted on. In addition, within the scope of the meetings, a bilateral meeting was held with Yalçın Lokmanhekim, General Manager of the Tourism Development and Promotion Agency (TGA).
