Turkey Chemical Industry Council convened

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Chemical Industry Council met via video conference under the chairmanship of Council President Timur Erk with the participation of Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, TOBB Vice President.​

The problems in the supply chain were discussed at the meeting, where the problems in raw materials and intermediate input supply were discussed in detail. Supply from the Far East region, particularly China, has been assessed as disruptive over the next two years.

The Draft Communiqué on the Formation and Duties of the Chemical Industry Technical Committee, which was opened for discussion by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, was consulted at the meeting. Ministry officials were advised as to the representative structure of the committee.

Hydrogen energy and thorium's uses and reserves were informed and the importance of the process of adapting green energy for the industrial sectors. It was stated that the Carbon at the Border mechanism under the European Green Deal could impose a heavy cost burden on countries which do not implement the Emissions Trading System and export to the European Union. It was emphasized that it is necessary to establish the Emissions Trading System.

A detailed presentation was made about the Chicago Turkish Trade Center, which was implemented under the support of TOBB and the Ministry of Commerce, and the questions of the sector were answered.
