TOBB FinTech Council Sectoral Issues Evaluation Meeting

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Financial Technologies Council Sectoral Issues Evaluation Meeting was held at the İzmir Chamber of Commerce with the participation of TOBB Board Member Mahmut Özgener and Council Speaker Koray Bahar, Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) Vice President Muhammed Mustafa Cerit, Deputy Director General of Payment Systems of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Emre Karpuz and related bureaucrats.​

Workgroups formed within the council met ahead of the meeting to discuss competition, crypto assets, payment services, combating financial crime, open banking and digital banking. The outputs of the workgroups were noted by the committee chairs for presenting at the council meeting.

Information was provided about supporting foreign exchange earning service activities carried out by the Ministry of Commerce and informed that the General Directorate of International Service Trade was established within the Ministry.

The meeting held consultations on minimum qualification criteria and digital bank licensing requirements in open banking. In order to facilitate the sector's access to data, it was decided to carry out a technical study in which the data will be determined for the integration to be requested from the institutions. The issue of crypto asset platform regulations was discussed in detail and opinions on capital requirement and retention processes were shared.
