17.06.2021 /

A "National Liaison Point Agreement" was signed between the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) the Turkish Council of Free Zones and the World Free Zones Organization (WFZO). With the agreement, the Turkish Free Zones Council became a point of contact in Turkey.

TOBB Vice President Ayhan ZeytinoÄŸlu, TOBB Board Member M. Cihat LokmanoÄŸlu, Turkish Free Zones Council President Edvar Mum, World Free Zones Organization CEO Mr. Hamrouni and Council Members attended the agreement ceremony, which was witnessed by Emel EmirlioÄŸlu, General Manager of Free Zones, Overseas Investments and Services of the Ministry of Commerce.

Ayhan ZeytinoÄŸlu said, "Today we are holding the signing ceremony of the National Liaison Point Agreement between the World Free Zones Organization (WFZO) and the the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey Turkish Free Zones Council. As a national point of contact, TOBB Turkish Free Zones Council will act as a working arrangement to ensure the exchange and flow of information between the World Free Zones Organization and the free zone ecosystem in our country in order to act as a focal point for Turkey."

"The World Free Zones Organization (WFZO) is the most successful free zone organization to date, aiming to create a platform for the development of individuals in practice and education, tasked with providing information and experience exchange. It is seen that the contribution of the efforts that will ensure administrative success, free zone development and spread throughout the world is significant. The communication network and the level of cooperation achieved to date are in a good position with approximately 740 members from 138 countries. With the National Point of Contact (NCP) agreement to be signed today, Turkish free zone culture will develop very positively. On behalf of myself and the Turkish Free Zones Council, I would like to thank you for your contributions and cooperation."

Mr. Hamrouni, CEO of the World Free Zones Organization, said, "I am very happy today. First, in 2014 we needed a locally structured council which could be contacted directly, and that happened. First of all, thank you for that. The second thing I am happy about is that the event on free zones, which we decided in 2014, took place. Personally, I understand the importance of Turkey in this event for free zones. Turkey was the first country I visited in March 2015 for this event to take place. When we visited the free zones, we had a very good time in terms of cooperation with Turkey. When we come to this day, I see that the National Point of Contact (NPC) agreement we will sign covers all 2 issues I mentioned. We can consider these issues as being closer to free zones and keeping and protecting the country's free zone data, which is very important. There's only one thing missing from our time: the All-in-one Agreement, which must be signed for the future. We need to work for this path in line with the contribution of all your members and free zones. Finally, I would like to point out that next week's Global Conference event will take place between June 21st and 24th and you are all invited to this event."
