Food Industry Council meets to discuss industry problems

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) met via video conference to discuss the issues on the agenda of the sector with the participation of industry representatives, headed by Özer Matlı, TOBB Board Member and Turkish Food Industry Council President Necdet Buzbaş.​

TOBB Board Member Özer Matlı underlined in his opening speech that the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey continues to work selflessly on all sectors during the pandemic and stated that they closely follow every problem which the food industry sector is experiencing.

TOBB Compliance Mediation Dispute General Manager Dr. Onur Yüksel, who attended the meeting as a guest, gave information about the services of national and international mediation and dispute resolution center based on technology and dominate the business world in Turkey.

At the meeting, Food Industry Council Advisor Dr. İsmail Mert gave a presentation on macro-economic and structural policies, which are the contents of the Economic Reform Package covering food sector issues, and exchanged views on this issue with the participation of the council members.

At the meeting, Council President Necdet Buzbaş said that the pandemic, which started a year ago, is not only a health crisis, but also an economic and social crisis, and that the economic problems which come with the measures taken against the pandemic affect people as much as their health.In his speech, Buzbas addressed macro-level issues such as the “Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices,” issued by the Ministry of Commerce, the draft law on Food Retailing and the Green Deal.
