Turkish Chemical Industry Council convened

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Chemical Industry Council convened via video conference under the leadership of TOBB Vice President Ayhan Zeytinoğlu and Council President Timur Erk.​

Councilors noted the problem of supplying raw materials, citing their general situation in the current conjuncture. It was stated that the increase in raw material prices and the increase in logistics costs were a problem.

Detailed information was given about the sectoral council carried out by the Economic Reform Package and the Chemical Sector Platform.

It was shared that a new investment in Hatay in the field of petrochemicals was on the agenda and the idea that this development would be very positive.

IKV Secretary General Assoc. Dr. Çiğdem Nas gave detailed information about the current situation on the European Green Deal. It was stated that the method for carbon limit mechanism processes has not yet been determined, but will take shape in the first half of 2021 and will contradict the WTO if it is an additional tax.

It was stated that the evaluation of carbon regulation at the border covering energy-intensive sectors would be incomplete if only considered within this framework and would directly affect all stakeholders between sectors, and that it triggers a transformation not at the plant level but at the economic level.
