The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) / Foreign Economic Relations Council (DEİK) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, speaking at the Turkish-Hungary Business Forum held by DEİK said that 3 Turkish shows have started airing in Hungary and that the relation between the two countries would continue to deepen with the advent of the EU and NATO processes.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that there are opportunities for collaboration between the two countries in the fields of energy, informatics and communication, automotive and supply industry, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, nature preservation, agriculture technologies and the defense industry.
Mentioning that the 2014 European Figure Skating Championship will be held in Hungary, Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that Turkey’s construction companies, the second largest building contractor in the world, are ready to undertake the required infrastructure projects.
Hisarcıklıoğlu listed the problems between the two countries as, “the facilitation of obtaining work and residency permits in Hungary”, “the increase of the pass document quota granted by Hungarian authorities and train reward document ratios”, “exemption of documentation for transit and two-way traffic of Turkish vehicles,” “the raising of the 48 hour limit regarding transportation to Hungary to 96 on loading and 96 on unloading.”

President of the Republic of Hungary Pal Schmitt stated that experience in the fields of renewable energy, biogas, the recycling of waste and water purification could be shared between the two countries, “Pharmaceuticals, informatics technologies, transportation and automobile spare parts also present opportunities for cooperation.”
Schmitt stated that they must realize the trade potential between Hungary and Turkey.
Pointing out that there can be collaboration between the two countries, Schmitt said, “Mainly experience in the fields of renewable energy, biogas, the recycling of waste and water purification could be shared between the two countries. Pharmaceuticals, informatics technologies, transportation and automobile spare parts also present opportunities for cooperation.”
Schmitt, stating that Hungary is rich in healing water sources, urged Turkish investors to invest in hotels and tourism in thermal water rich areas.
Stating that they will continue to support Turkey’s EU accession process, Schmitt said that the EU accession process requires persistence and patience, the reward for which he believes will be obtained.
Pal Schmitt defined the social and economic change in Turkey over the last 10 years as “stupendous”, stating that Turkey lies on the path of the largest natural gas lines leading to Europe and said, “This strategic position grants Turkey enormous potential.”
