Turkey Forest Products Council evaluation meeting

The meeting of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Turkey Forest Products Council was held with the participation of the Council Members under the chairmanship of TOBB Board Member Oğuzhan A. Sadıkoğlu and Council President Haluk Yıldız.​

Oğuzhan A. Sadıkoğlu expressed his satisfaction with being together with the representatives of the sector and emphasized that as TOBB during Covid-19, they gathered the demands with great care and that Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank and Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli want to meet with the Sector Council as soon as possible, noting that they closely followed the problems of the forest sector.

At the meeting, Central Anatolia Exporters' Associations Councilor Hüseyin Güler informed the council members by making a detailed presentation about 5 problem-5 solution proposals in the forest products sector and the 6-month work of the Forest Products Council.

Haluk Yıldız, Forest Products Council President, said that one of the agenda items, the negative effects of the use of industrial and firewood from forest inventories in biomass energy production, was brought to the agenda of the Ministry, industrial wood was in biomass production and work was underway to remove firewood labeled as other product.

Council Vice President Sabri Avcı said that the agendas of the meeting should be determined in line with the opinions and suggestions of the members, that the wood raw material produced by the General Directorate of Forestry should be used more efficiently to provide high added value, and that wood raw materials should be distributed fairly to all sub-branches of the sector.

General Directorate of Forestry Management Department Chief Ahmet Aydın attended the meeting. Answering the questions of the councilors, he said that they are continuing to work on solving problems related to the sector, increasing production every year to meet the need for raw materials and planning for industrial forest cultivation studies.
