Turkey-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum Turkish Side Members convened

Members of the Turkish Side of the Turkey-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum met via video conference. Turkey-Ukraine Businessmen's Association (TUID) President also attended the meeting chaired by Özer Matlı, Member of the Board of Directors of TOBB and Co-Chair of the Turkey-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum.​

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Co-Chairman Özer Matlı stressed that a trade volume target of $20 billion has been set between Turkey and Ukraine by the end of 2023, that negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) have not yet been completed, but that he believes that once the agreement comes into force, a more solid basis will be reached in trade relations. Matlı said that in this way, the trade volume target will be reached more comfortably.

Matlı stated that there are about 700 Turkish companies in Ukraine and with an investment of $3.6 billion, and stressed that Turkish companies are particularly successful in construction and that Turkish contractors have signed more than 200 projects with a total value of $7 billion in Ukraine.

TUID President Burak Pehlivan said in his speech that relations between Turkey and Ukraine go back a long way and that relations have gained momentum in the last 5 years, adding that it is desirable to further develop our foreign trade volume of $4.9 billion. He stressed the importance of signing the Free Trade Agreement in order to reach the trade volume target between the two countries.

Following the opening speeches, members of the Turkish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum introduced themselves and conveyed their problems, demands and proposals.

The Turkey-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum was established in 2019 by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI). The Turkish side of the Chamber President and its members are appointed by TOBB and the Ukrainian side by UCCI. Annual economic summits, joint board meetings, business forums, business meetings and efforts to improve Turkey-Ukraine business relations are the main areas of work of the Turkey-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum.
