Durable Consumer Goods Council held its October meeting

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Turkey Durable Consumer Goods Council October meeting was held via video conference under the chairmanship of TOBB Board Member Oğuzhan A. Sadıkoğlu and Council President Fatih Kemal Ebiçlioğu.​

TOBB Board Member Oğuzhan A. Sadikoğlu stated that led by TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu the problems are conveyed individually to the relevant authorities and that sector-specific meetings regarding Recovery Participation Share (GEKAP) are continuing taking into account the demands of the Councils and thanked the workgroup created with regards to the European Green Agreement for their continued work.

Within the scope of the meeting agenda, information about the economic outlook of the world and Turkey was first presented by Ahmet Çimenoğlu, Economic Research Coordinator of Koç Holding.

Çimenoğlu said that Q3 has seen a strong recovery at the global level and in Turkey, and the IMF has revised its worldwide forecast for a 2020 downsizing to -4.4% as of October.  The IMF's previous forecast for downsizing (-5%) was very pessimistic, he noted. Commodity price growth, GDP per person ($10,144-$>8661 for 2021) and going backwards at the employment level compared to the old plan at YEP, foreign investors total capital out of $13.8 billion (bonds+stock) is among the major developments.

Afterwards, Bahar Güçlü, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Commerce's International Agreements and THE EU General Directorate, expressed predictions about the design of the mechanism envisaged in line with the ongoing consultation process on carbon regulation at the border, about the developments of the European Green Agreement, one of the key agenda issues of the Council.

As another agenda item, the User Digital Interface Guide in Durable Consumer Goods was expressed by Halil Ipek, head of the Department of Consumer Protection and Market Supervision at the Ministry of Commerce, with examples in which written, audio and video statements on the user interface must be in Turkish if the user interface of the goods is programmable and replaceable through software.

Within the scope of the final agenda item of the meeting, Vestel Environmental Management Systems Expert Pırıl Tonguç Erdem gave information about “The Law Proposal on the Establishment of the Turkish Environment Agency and Amendments to the Environmental Law.”
