European Union Green Reconciliation Workgroup convened

The first meeting of the European Union Green Agreement Workgroup, established within the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), was held.​

Ahmet Saygın Baban, Head of TOBB's Department of Sectors and Entrepreneurship, shared with the participants the purpose of the Workgroup, the sectors expected to be affected by the system and the issues that the workgroup should focus on. Your father stated that representatives of public institutions will also be in the workgroup in the future.

Ahmet Altıntuğlu, Director of TOBB Turkey Sector Councils, started his remarks by stating that the establishment and work of this workgroup is very important to TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu. Altıntuğlu said that the EU Green Agreement can be considered not only an environmental strategy, but also as a new international trade system and business division that is of close interest to our country.

Stating that this system is a risk to our country as well as creating new opportunities as a means of a transformation aimed at sustainable development, Altıntuğlu said that well-prepared roadmaps are needed for the evaluation of this window of opportunity for Turkey and that this workgroup was created for this purpose.

During the first part of the meeting, Bengisu Özenç of the Turkish Economic Policy Research Foundation (TEPAV) gave a presentation on the subject.

Then, the representatives of the workgroup sector voiced their thoughts on the subject. It was decided that the workgroup should be convened at certain intervals and that concrete outputs should be evaluated with the participation of representatives of public institutions in the following period.
