During the meeting, stating that the present state of commercial relationship between the two countries, albeit good, does not reflect the full potential, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that additional effort must be exerted to bring together the representatives of the two business worlds and support them.

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that the two countries share opinions, said, “Opportunities to increase commerce between Turkey and the UK should be seized.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the contributions of the British Chamber of Commerce in Turkey to the SMEs is very important and that TOBB would support these efforts.

Ambassador Reddaway stated that their desire to be in closer relations with TOBB, the umbrella organization of the Turkish private sector, and that while as a first step, they had focused on Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, they now wish to contact businessmen in additional cities.

Jonathan Beard, the Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce of Turkey, stated that they were developing an interactive website and “Business partnership portal” to bring Turkish SMEs into contact with British firms and as a result they wish to reach out to many more SMEs in Turkey. He stated that they look forward to TOBB’s support to achieve this goal.
