In his assessment of the industrial production index data for September, M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), drew attention to labor-intensive sectors and said that these sectors need urgent support.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated the following in his announcement on social media: “Industrial production decreased by 2.2% on a monthly basis in September, but increased by 2.9% on an annual basis. However, the problems in labor-intensive sectors are significant. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a real loss of 11% in textiles, 22% in ready-to-wear clothing, and 14% in leather.

A new strategy is needed for labor-intensive sectors, particularly textiles, ready-to-wear clothing, furniture, leather, and footwear. Priority support must be given to these sectors immediately.

Access to financing for the real sector, especially SMEs, must be facilitated. We must protect our country's production, investment, employment, and export capacity.”
