Waste import workshop in Antalya

“Waste Import Workshop” was held in Antalya with the aim of strengthening waste imports practices, developing and exchanging information with relevant stakeholder groups, as well as negotiating the work and procedures related to the Notification of Import Controlled Hazardous Waste for the Preservation of the Environment.​

In his speech at the opening of the workshop, Zeki Kıvanç, a member of the Board of Directors representing the Union of Chambers of Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), stated that on September 11th, he and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, and Türk-İş Chairman Ergun Atalay, had brought all sides together and reached an agreement at that meeting. The provisions of the 9-point agreement, which is also shared with the public, are important, Kıvanç said, adding that as all stakeholders, they are firmly against the tonnage-based fund.
