Household Waste Sector Assessment Meeting at TOBB

The “Household Waste Sector Assessment Meeting,” held to evaluate the current status of household waste disposal facilities operating in the recycling sector; was held at the TOBB Twin Towers under the chairmanship of Ali Kantur, Chairman of the Waste and Recycling Industry Council, with the participation of Nevzat Şatıroğlu, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources; Kutluhan Taşkın, Deputy Chairman of the Presidency’s Strategy and Budget Office; and Zeki Kıvanç, Member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB).​

Also attending the meeting were Ömer Albayrak and Barış Ecevit Akgün, Deputy Directors General for Environmental Impact Assessment, Permits, and Inspection at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change; Haluk Şahin Yazgı, Deputy Director General for Environmental Management; and Dr. Emrullah Töremen, Deputy Director General for Local Administration.

Zeki Kıvanç, a member of the TOBB Board of Directors, delivered the opening remarks at the meeting; he emphasized the importance of household waste disposal facilities for the environment and public health, and provided an assessment of the current status of these facilities.

Later in the meeting, industry representatives gave a presentation outlining recommendations for the sector’s present and future.

Additionally, the meeting featured a discussion on steps to contribute to the sector’s development. It was emphasized that efforts to strengthen public-private sector dialogue and contribute to the sector’s sustainable development would continue.

The meeting concluded after gathering the participants’ views and suggestions.
