BIAC Critical Minerals Forum

As part of the OECD Skills Summit 2026, a side event themed “Critical Minerals and Critical Partnerships,” focused on strengthening global supply chains, was held at the OECD İstanbul Centre in collaboration with Business at OECD (BIAC).
The event, which featured opening remarks by Business at OECD (BIAC) Secretary-General Hanni Rosenbaum and the Netherlands’ Permanent Representative to the OECD, Jochem Wiers, was moderated by Kristen Edgreen Kaufmann, Senior Vice President of Global Impact Initiatives at USCIB.
Panelists included Rohitesh Dhawan, President and CEO of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM); Kenan Arkan, Managing Director at J.P. Morgan; Ben Chalmers, Senior Vice President at the Mining Association of Canada (MAC); Carol Anderson, Senior Legal Counsel for Supply Chain Security and Customs Affairs at Microsoft; and Alev Somer, Director of Trade and Environment at the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) Director of Trade and Environment, Alev Somer, served as speakers.
Ramazan Yön, Vice Chair of the TOBB Mining Council and General Manager of Demir Export, also spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in high-risk, capital-intensive projects within the mining sector.
The panel session concluded with a closing remarks by Andreas Schaal, Director of Global Relations and Cooperation at the OECD and the OECD Sherpa to the G7, G20, and APEC.
