1st International Halal Accreditation Congress held in Ankara

The 1st International Halal Accreditation Congress, held in Ankara from April 6–8, 2026, was organized with the participation of Minister of Trade Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, President of the Halal Accreditation Agency Zafer Soylu, President of TIKA Abdullah Eren, Secretary-General of the Islamic Countries Standards and Metrology Institute (SMIIC), and representatives of the global halal accreditation system.​

The congress featured significant discussions on the global development of the halal accreditation system, the promotion of halal consumption awareness, and the enhancement of reliability in international trade.

Representing the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), Tahir Büyükhelvacıgil, a member of the Advisory Board of the Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK), and SME Expert Aziz Ertaş attended the conference.

During the session titled “Understanding Halal Consumption, Risks, Opportunities, and Intentions,” held on the afternoon of the conference’s first day, Büyükhelvacıgil delivered a speech on behalf of TOBB, highlighting the importance of the halal concept for the business world—particularly in terms of reliable production, quality assurance, and transparent supply chains.
