At the meeting, Yorgancılar stated that protectionism in global trade was increasing and competition was shifting to the systemic level, that excess capacity originating from China was putting serious pressure on Turkish industry, that the uncertainty caused by the US tariff policies had made risk management permanent, and that the European Union’s new free trade agreements have strengthened de facto protectionism. He stated that they emphasized the strategic importance of effectively protecting our industrialists and restructuring the Customs Union Agreement in line with current conditions, at a time when all countries are taking steps to protect their own industries.
Ender Yorgancılar also stated that they raised the issues of implementing protective measures for final consumer goods, pursuing a balanced policy for intermediate goods, strengthening producers' access to finance, and providing transition period incentives for existing investments.
