In his speech, Kopuz stated that the ICC is the largest business organization working for the development of world trade, saying, “It represents more than 45 million companies and more than 1 billion employees in over 170 countries. It is the only business organization to have achieved Observer Status at the United Nations.”
Kopuz emphasized that the ICC establishes globally accepted business rules, adding, “The ICC has also played an important role in supporting global trade and investment through dispute resolution.”
Kopuz also noted that the ICC International Court of Arbitration is one of the world’s leading centers for the resolution of international commercial disputes, reminding that the Court is the most widely represented arbitration institution with members from every continent and over 100 countries.

Stating that arbitration is one of the fundamental elements of the investment environment, Kopuz said, “One of the most important elements of the investment environment is the guarantee of obligations arising from contracts. The ICC Arbitration System is an important guarantee for the investment environment. The ICC International Arbitration System is an important guarantee in this regard.”
Noting that the ICC has developed faster and more economical mechanisms according to the needs of the business world, Kopuz said that the ICC Expedited Procedure (EPP) in particular offers a suitable solution for SMEs and start-ups.
Kopuz reported that, according to ICC statistics for 2024, 831 new cases were filed under the ICC Arbitration Rules, and that Türkiye entered the top 10 countries in terms of participation in ICC arbitration, increasing its number of cases from 56 in 2023 to 80 in 2024.
At the end of his speech, Kopuz made an appeal to the ICC, stating, “As a good client of ICC arbitration, we expect and want the ICC to give more space to our country’s lawyers in its arbitrator appointments.” He stated that TOBB and ICC Türkiye would continue their efforts to raise awareness and promote arbitration.
