Opening the meeting, Seyit Ardıç reminded the meetings held with the General Directorate of Imports within the scope of the decisions taken at the last Council meeting, and stated that efforts are continuing to solve the problems experienced by the sector in customs processes. Ardıç emphasized the importance of public and private sector cooperation to solve the problems in the electronics sector.
At the meeting, the technological and technical problems of the electronics sector, the problems experienced in export processes and solution proposals were discussed. It was pointed out that the lack of qualified workforce, technological dependency, the difficulties created by the import-based export structure and logistics costs constitute significant obstacles to the growth of the sector. It was also stated that government support should be increased in order to overcome the technical and financial difficulties faced by the sector companies in the production process.
In his presentation at the meeting, Council Member İbrahim Uğurlu explained the steps that can be taken to improve the foreign trade balance of the sector, reduce import dependency and support domestic production, and shared examples of practices in Europe with the participants.
The meeting was concluded with the decision to initiate the process of collecting opinions and forwarding them to the Ministry of Trade in order to improve cooperation with public institutions and follow up on the issues identified in order to increase the export capacity of the sector and strengthen its position in global competition.
