18.12.2019 / İstanbul

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Board of Directors Member Hakan Ülken attended and participated in the 2nd Istanbul Geographical Marker Summit Conference organized with the participation and support of TOBB, TURKPATENT and MEB and hosted by Metro Turkey.

Hakan Ülken in his speech here, stated that the registration of geographically marked products is a visionary work and a moral behaviour, pointing out, “Because geographic allocation means more valuable products, i.e. more profits. When a product is registered with geographic allocations in Europe, the price increases by 20 to 50%. But it's not just about making money. It is also our duty to protect our heritage, value and culture.”

Stating that the tastes tasted by our grandfathers, products of same quality should be offered to the grandchildren, Ülken noted all these products will be lost if not protected.
