25.12.2020 / Ankara

Milas Olive Oil was registered as a geographical marker in the European Union. M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), said, "We are proud that the geographical markers, which are our national treasures, are registered first in our country and then in the European Union."

Stating that Milas Olive Oil adds great value to Turkish cuisine and also attracts attention all over the world with its superior quality and taste, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Milas Olive Oil became our 5th geographical marker registered in the European Union.”

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his assessment of the issue:

“The reputation of Milas Olive Oil is due to the use of Memecik variety of olive, which have been grown and in high quality since ancient times, and the olives in question grow in high quality in the soil and climatic conditions of the region.

Our other geographical signs registered in the European Union together with Milas Olive Oil are Antep Baklava, Malatya Apricot, Aydın Fig and Aydın Chestnut. I would like to thank our TOBB Brussels Office at this point, which closely follows the process of registering our geographical markers in the European Union and does not spare their support.

We wholeheartedly congratulate our Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which crowned its works with the registration of the European Union by claiming Milas Olive Oil.”
