Hisarcıklıoğlu's name given to a street in Ürgüp

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu took part in the opening ceremony of a street named after him in the Ürgüp district of Nevsehir.​

After Hisarcıklıoğlu announced the decision to build a school with 24 classrooms in the district, Ürgüp Municipality Council, upon the suggestion of the Ürgüp Chamber of Commerce and Industry, unanimously voted to rename of the street previously named “Asım Yolaç” to “M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.”

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony for the street, Ürgüp Mayor Fahri Yıldız reported that Hisarcıklıoğlu, during a visit to Ürgüp district in recent months promised to build a school. Land has been allocated by the municipality and construction will start in the coming days. He also stated that they consider Hisarcıklıoğlu to be an honorary resident, and that renaming the street has been the decision of all the people of Ürgüp.

In his speech, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they have signed a protocol with the Ministry of National Education for the construction of the school and that the construction, whose foundation will be laid as soon as possible, will start to teach within the year.

Hisarcıklıoğlu said that when asked where he is from abroad, he always answers Cappadocian, “Therefore, from Ürgüp. As you know, Ürgüp was formerly attached to Kayseri, and every time I hosted a foreign guest, I made sure to take them to this region. I would like thank the Mayor and members of the Council for their graciousness. We have signed a protocol with the Ministry of National Education, we will lay down the foundation in the near future and open our school within one year at the latest.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu, Nevşehir Governor İlhami Aktaş, Ürgüp District Governor Mehmet Maraşlı, Nevşehir Mayor Atilla Seçen, Ürgüp Mayor Fahri Yıldız, Ürgüp Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ahmet Aydın, Nevşehir Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Arif Parmaksız and other members of the protocol cut the ribbon finalizing the ceremony.

Hisarcıklıoğlu uncovered the stone at the entrance to the secret with his name engraved on it.
