TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated in his condolatory message regarding Koç Holding Board Chair Mustafa Vehbi Koç, stated that the Turkish business community has lost one of its most important figures and that they are deeply saddened by Koç’s death.

Stating that Koç was a very important member of an institution which itself was a symbol of the private sector, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Turkey has lost one of its most important economy figures who was a role model to all entrepreneurs, who was instrumental in tens of thousands of people earning their living. We are deeply saddened by his loss.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:

“The news of the passing of Koç Holding Board Chair Mustafa Vehbi Koç has plunged the Turkish business community into grief. Board Chair of the Koç Group which takes on the greatest investments of Turkey, provides the highest number of employment and is a jugular of the economy, Mustafa Vehbi Koç was respected immensely both nationally and internationally with many successes under his belt.

A model entrepreneur and father, Koç’s life is filled with exemplary events for all entrepreneurs. Starting his business life in the Koç Group, learning the business at each level and rising all the way to the top, Mustafa Vehbi Koç was an extraordinary person not just because of his caliber as businessman but as a seeker of education and a person. His loss at an age which could still be considered young has deeply affected us all.

We know that Mr. Koç had many more projects planned for Turkey. The loss of his accumulation, vision and contributions to our economy will be felt. He was an important role model for young entrepreneurs and will continue to do so.

I pray for the grace of Allah upon him and extend my condolences to the Koç family, the Turkish business community and all his employees. May heaven be his abode.”
