A delegation of members of the France-based agricultural association Club Demeter visited the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) in order to improve relations between the two countries. TOBB Board of Directors Treasurer Member Faik Yavuz hosted the Club Demeter delegation at the TOBB Reception Hall.

In his speech here, Yavuz pointed out that TOBB attaches great importance to Türkiye-France relations and stated that they want to improve bilateral relations as the business world.

Yavuz said that mutual investments, contracting works, cooperation in third countries, energy and the EU Green Deal are areas of common interest between the countries, adding that there is also serious potential in the field of agriculture.

Emphasizing that Türkiye exports around 30 billion euros of agricultural products to about 190 countries, Yavuz said, “We all know the agricultural power of France in the EU. Therefore, we know that the agricultural sector has a serious potential in Türkiye-France relations. Agriculture will also be included in the Customs Union. Your support is also very important in this regard. Because France has always been decisive in Türkiye-EU relations.”

Jean-François Isambert, President of Club Demeter, said that Club Demeter is a community that brings together the decisive actors in the agricultural sector and industry, and that they continue to monitor areas that show development in agriculture.

Pointing out that they are not in Türkiye for commercial purposes, Isambert said that the trade volume between the two countries has the potential to grow.

Isambert said that after Ankara, they will also hold meetings in Adana and İstanbul.
