EU-Turkey Climate Policy Dialogue Workshop held

The European Roundtable on Climate Change and Sustainable Transition (ERCST) and the Climate Research Association (IAD) were organized jointly as part of the EU -Turkey Climate Policy Dialogue Project. Green Deal Action Plan, Border Carbon Regulation Mechanism and Fair Transition Mechanism were discussed.​

TOBB Sectors and Entrepreneurship Department Head A. Saygın Baban, who participated in the workshop representing TOBB, took part in the panel titled “Turkey Green Deal Action Plan.” Representatives from TOBB, WWF, TÜREB and Istanbul Policy Center attended the panel, which took place after the presentation of Bahar Güçlü, Acting Director General of International Agreements and the European Union from the Ministry of Commerce, about the Green Deal Action Plan of Turkey.

Talking about the effects of the Green Deal process on our country in the panel, Saygın Baban expressed the risks and opportunities brought by the process. Commenting on the Action Plan, which is a roadmap for harmonizing with the Green Deal, Baban mentioned the need for a clearer and more ambitious Action Plan.

In addition, he mentioned the financing barrier to the process of green transformation and stated that in order for the business world to adapt to the process, the access of our country to the EU's financing resources should made available. Finally, talking about the importance of NGOs taking part in the process, Baban ended his remarks by explaining the work done by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey on the Green Deal.
